South Of France
Watercolor Workshop
Christy Henspetter: Instructor / Guide
Sept 20-27 2008
Enjoy trouble free time to explore painting and the magic of the South of France
with an accomplished watercolor instructor who is fluent in French and knows the
area. Participants will enjoy charming accommodations; all dinners and breakfasts;
some lunches; some wine & cheese; uncompromised landscapes; ground transportation,
as needed; and good people and good times.
You will be picked up on Sat. afternoon, the 20th, at either the Marseilles airport
(Marignane) or the Avignon TGV train station. Most everything, from excursions in-and-around
the Cotes du Rhone area, to hillside locations, great vineyards and painting guidance,
is included.
We will stay at the Hostellerie le Beffroi
http://www.le-beffroi.com/anglais.htm in Vaison-la-Romaine, the village
dating from Roman time—the hotel from the Middle Ages. It is an essentially car-less,
walking-only, perched village. From the inside of the hotel --to the Belfry (Beffroi)
courtyard --to the interior salons, there is a lot to entice the painter's eye.
And that doesn't even start to describe the charm that exists at footsteps from
the front door.. --Blind-folded one could find a place to enjoy the view and the
painting experience.
$2725/ person, double occupancy in upgraded, Deluxe Standard rooms with all dinners
and breakfasts included. Some lunches and touring too. Ground transportation and
workshop tuition are included. Single occupancy is an additional $375. for the week.
You have the choice of rooms with showers or baths. Non-painters are welcome at
a reduced rate.—A local winery tour is planned for one afternoon
A $500 deposit is required to secure a reservation. Workshop is limited to no more
than 8 people. A full refund (less $50 booking fee) given up to 45 days prior to
departure.
Airfare to and from France and art supplies are not included.
Trip Insurance is recommended to insure that your deposit, tour fees, and airline
reservation expenses.
Needless to say folks have to be able to manage their own baggage and independently
walk the sometimes steep streets of hill towns.

I take painting very seriously, even though I believe it should also be a lot of
fun. It is planned that we have two painting sessions per day, going out from the
Beffroi at 9:30 a.m. and then in the afternoon around 4pm. Some days however we
might prefer go out into the countryside for lunch, some sightseeing, and sketching.--In
which case the afternoon would be free until we meet for our group dinner. As weather
can factor in, it is always a good idea to keep some flexibility in our schedule.
I am looking forward to seeing you in the South of France. Sincerely,
Christy Henspetter
