Nature is where I begin. I seek its mystery and beauty through the illusion of art. I come to art for the experience of connecting with something more than myself.

Art can simply be a visual experience for the viewer. But I consider it my challenge as an artist to make it something more, potentially reaching the viewer in a new way, potentially exposing an aspect of the soul of my chosen subject.

I pursue something more essential or evocative of nature and my world; something beyond the surface quality. Sometimes it feels as if I am trying to grasp a fugitive liquid, and often it works…
